Interesting SAS videos
Interesting videos, including Australian SAS in training. They revealed some interesting techniques...
Please excuse the music in the first video. I find it annoying also. They've disabled imbedding for the second video for some reason. This is in fact an Australian TAG (East) video) |
Re: Interesting SAS videos

Re: Interesting SAS videos
Thx.
Yeah, the all look really tough and scary. UNTIL you realize that they are 'assualting' empty building and vehicles. THE LAST TIME this happend FOR REAL was at Waco. 100 fully loaded swat/assault team members hit the compound hard. Guess what? They didn't bring enough ammo. YOU CAN'T for this type of raid. Hence the reason why their MO is to hit hard, hit fast and ATTEMPT to take down the targets. Works great when you outnumber the bad guys ten to one. At Waco, the numbers were not nearly that high. More like two to one. And when they ran out of ammo, they raised a white flag. AND THE IDIOT LET THEM GO. He could have easily gone out and capped their asses. OR better yet, TAKEN THEM HOSTAGES. Stood them up in front of the windows and doors, sans all their body armor. Then let the MEDIA FILM THAT. That 'seige' would have had a VERY DIFFERENT ENDING. The so called BAD GUYS would have won OR there would have been twice as many DEAD so called GOOD GUYS. Sheesh, when will these idiots ever learn that they are NOT the only people who understand THEIR TACTICS... Coming one day soon to YOUR neighborhood. :confused_ma: |

They train in similar ways, but to say they do the same job is not true. The SAS train SWAT teams, and police tactical response groups etc. But the reality is, for the SAS that is their full-time job, for the cops it isn't. SAS planning and implementation would have been far superior to anything the police had come up with. This is not to say they're invincible, but the standard of training is far better, I'm sure they use Waco as a case study of what not to do, as it can be regarded as a massive failure, in terms of loss of life to the assaulters, and of the innocents (hostages if you will) in the Waco compound. The confrontational method of negotiation didn't help at all either. I'm pretty sure almost everyone apart from Koresh could have been reasoned with. |
Re: Interesting SAS videos
I should mention that the second video is in fact by TRG TAG (East). They are trained by the SAS/ADF, but they don't appear to consist of many SASR members. TAG is a group designed for domestic counter terrorism and presumably hostage rescue also.
TAG (West) members are mainly drawn from SASR members, interestingly. They could be in this video also, not sure. Thought I'd clear that up. |
Re: Interesting SAS videos
Didn't anyone notice that whenever they "Breached" they were all stacked up? I mean if your country bans SWORDS for god sakes thats one thing. But waking through an apartment complex, I mean the AK can fire through drywall right? So in summation, aim for the door, if there is a loud bang, keep squeezing the trigger at the direction of the bang. By the time they've done this, they've already picked you off with an air assault.
